Welcome to Broomfield House Bed and Breakfast.   We are situated in the heart of the Scottish Borders.

  • A warm welcome awaits you from Stuart, Sylvia and Tracey McIver on your arrival at Broomfield House. 

  • ​Built in 1845, Broomfield House is a traditional stone built Scottish home, conveniently situated in the Border's village of Earlston. 

  • ​Broomfield House Bed and Breakfast caters to families and groups, walkers, cyclists, fishermen and golfers.

  • We have limited, private, off-street parking at the rear of the property.  There is also plentiful, free on-street parking in the immediate vicinity of Broomfield House. 

  • We regret that we are no longer pet friendly.

  • ​Packed lunches are available by prior arrangement.

  • We offer free, super-fast, fibre-optic wi-fi throughout the house.

Earlston (originally known as Ercildoune) is a bustling small village set in the heart of the Scottish Borders. Famously known as being the home of 'Thomas the Rhymer', a 13th century poet and prophet. 

​

Earlston is 33 miles south of Edinburgh along the convenient A68, and is within very close driving proximity to the Borders towns of Melrose, Kelso, Duns, Peebles, Jedburgh and Lauder, to name just a few.  Set around a mature pretty village green, Earlston is able to offer many conveniences, including 2 pubs (neither pub serves food);  Bakehouse Bakery;  Dragonfly Cafe;  Wellfed Earlston (take away, open from 7 am - 3.30 pm Monday to Friday, and 8 am - 3 pm on Saturday);   (Donaldson's Specialties Butcher;  Rhymers Tower Bistro (next door to the petrol station on the A68);  Alfonso's fish-and-chip take-away;  Chinese Take-away;  a pharmacy;  a convenience shop;  hairdressers;  a small art gallery and a bank atm.    There is a petrol station with a Morrisons convenience store and an atm machine on the main A68.

There are regular buses available from Earlston Main Square to most destinations in the area, including Edinburgh and Berwick.  There is also a local taxi firm.  Earlston is a convenient stopping point for ferry travellers visiting Scotland from Newcastle and Hull, whether at the start of the holiday, or on the way back to Europe on the ferry.

So, whether you are visiting Earlston on business, or enjoying visiting friends and family, shooting, fishing, walking, cycling, playing golf, or just touring the Scottish Borders, you can be assured that Stuart, Sylvia and Tracey will be on hand at all times to assist you in getting the most out of your stay in the Borders.
